Main Goals of the Plastic Free Bali Program

Our goals include setting up efficient sorting facilities, training staff in circular economy methods, and reducing single-use plastics through education. We’re committed to empowering women as leaders in this initiative and ensuring that the villages become self-sustaining.

Facility Enhancement

Set up and improve village level sorting facilities by training the staff, introducing circular economy and sustainable practices.

Women Leadership

Empower women to become leaders in their community in the fight against plastic pollution and create heathier environment.

Community Education

Educate and train local communities regarding how to sort trash, how to reduce single-use plastic consumption, and introduce eco-friendly options.

Self-Sustaining

Implement our system to the villages so their trash management facilities become financially independent and sustainable.

Program Transition

Making a demonstration on how to run a sustainable waste management system. After our two-year program, we'll transfer responsibility to the local authorities/communities to continue our education efforts and expand the program.

When our team began this program, none of the four villages we now work with had operational waste facilities. Today, thanks to the support of local authorities, communities embracing our program, and contributions from sponsors and supporters, these villages have functioning waste management systems

OUR PROJECTS Support

Global Support for a Cleaner, Healthier Bali

The ROTARY INTERNATIONAL Global Grant supports our two-year FOUR VILLAGE program, focused on implementing sustainable waste systems in the bay areas, main roads, and commercial and public spaces of the four villages. We also run several sub-projects aimed at reducing plastic pollution and ocean debris to improve both environmental and public health.
